I love bags, but I'll admit I'm not the best at making them. I decided now was the time to change that and purchased 80 assorted zippers to make zipper bags, handbags, Sew Together Bags, etc. In my mind, it was going to be fabulous. But...The very first zipper bag I was warming up with, I hit the tiny little metal part of the zipper and broke my needle! I couldn't find all the pieces, and it was no longer stitching correctly anymore. My Bernina (my baby) is in the shop and has been for almost a week. Should I be concerned that they haven't called me to say it's all fixed?! (My other thought: Good thing I own 4 different sewing machines!) I finished off the zipper bag on my Janome Gem. In fact, I love bags so much I ended up making 3 different bags this week!
I was also starting to clean my sewing room this week and found these American Garden Quilt blocks I had laid out on my design boards. Cleaning meant I should sew them together instead of putting the project back into the bin, right? Well here are my 4 blocks I finished! My sewing room is still a mess, but my design boards are now put up.
Guess what I also found?! At QuiltCon this last February, the Michael Miller Fabrics booth gave out samples of their fabric to make 6.5" blocks out of. The blocks are to be mailed in and received by November 10 to be sewn together into a friendship quilt! I quickly made a simple 6.5" block, and it's in the mail to Michael Miller Fabrics. I can't wait to see the friendship quilts this next QuiltCon.
Last but not least, I got not one but two rows done in my Fox and Friends quilt! I even sewed the rows together. Hopefully I'll get this quilt done in no time!
Here's my plan for next week!
