I spent this week in Kansas on a business trip, and I'm finally going home today!! I brought my Janome Jem Gold so I could sew from the hotel room at night. It's not the best setup, but it works ok. I pre-cut all my fabric before the trip to prep it to be sewn, and I use the hotel iron and ironing board.
I've done this multiple times in the past and even bought my Janome specifically to travel with. However this trip, the ironing board was terrible for pressing my pieces! I don't know why but it was very difficult to get blocks flat. In the end, I didn't get as much sewing done as I planned.
I came prepared with other items such as hand embroidery! I belong to the Cozy Blue Stitch Club and get one brand new (not yet released) pattern printed on fabric and enough floss to complete the pattern each month. At the beginning of March, I got Night Garden, and I LOVE it so much. I knew I needed to finish my Floral Mandala pattern that I had started over the Christmas holiday before I started a new one. Because I couldn't really sew a ton in the hotel room, I ended up doing a lot of hand embroidery!
I finally finished the Floral Mandala (above) pattern!! Isn't it beautiful? You can pick up a kit from Cozy Blue Handmade. I was so in love with Night Garden that I started and finished it this week as well.
I think this is one of my favorite patterns! It will be released in a few months for purchase!
I use these awesome Plastic No-Slip Hoop
