Friday the 13th! (Friday Foto Fun #27)

Happy Friday!!!  It's the 13th and only 13 more days till my birthday… but most importantly it's Friday!!!  I go home later today, leave this beautiful 80 degree weather in Kansas to the impending foot of snow at home. I also realize I forgot to post the winners of the Michael Miller Challenge at Sewtopia (read my recap here).

Jane won 1st prize for this awesome quilt she made for her grandson!  Some of the white fabric is glow-in-the-dark, so it looks really wicked!

Sara won 2nd place for her Range Quilt mini. She shrunk the Range pattern from ModernHandcraft and created this beautiful mini.

Claire won 3rd place for her Rocket and Astronaut stuffies.  Aren't they just darling?!

Stephanie won the People's Choice Award for her Mrs. Major Tom to Ground Control: I’ve Got This quilt.  She even used the glow in the dark fabric for constellations around the center of the quilt.  It looked really amazing in person!

So what did I do at Sewtopia in my freetime?  I did lots and lots of chain piecing on my Ombre Gems quilt!!!  I was so happy that I got to do some personal sewing, and some mindless chain piecing made it really fun to chat with everyone!

I didn't actually finish a ton of blocks during that time, but I would consider the 7 blocks I finished a success!  The bottom middle block was the first block I created a few months ago.

Due to my crazy travel this week, I also got lots of embroidery finished.  I started Miss Matryoshka Saturday night before leaving Sewtopia, and I was able to finish it this week!  I learned so many different stitches to complete this pattern.  All of Cozy Blue Handmade's kits have a stitching diagram, so you know what stitches she used to complete the piece.  I find that this is one of the easier ways to learn stitches. You can pick up this kit from her website here.

I have now finished all the kits that I had purchased and only have some of the monthly stitch club patterns to do.  The Monthly Stitch Club does not come with a stitch diagram since the patterns are brand new.  I started this beautiful April stitch club pattern, and I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do with the large pink flower.

Last but not least this week, the 2018 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop starts next week!  I am a part of the Happy Stitching Team hive, and you can read all about the details on Tish, my hive leader's blog.  There are some fabulous sponsors for the event, so make sure to enter!
