YAY! We are finally sewing this month! I'm so happy to finally be sharing tips and tricks on constructing this seemingly complicated quilt!
This month we are making the same block 16 times for the full quilt or 4 times for a mini quilt!
There are monthly cutting instructions for anyone who is sewing along! Be sure to purchase the pattern and respond back to my invite to the exclusive newsletter! (*note: I updated the orientation of the graphic on the printout to match the printed pattern)
Here are my Top Tips:
- Chain piecing is the fastest way to get all the pieces sewn together. I sew all of the units linked together with one piece of thread!
- I use Clearly Perfect Angles to make the Half Square Triangles and the stitch and flip corner units. This method involves ZERO drawing of lines on fabric squares!
- Clearly slotted trimmers are my favorite tool for trimming Half Square Triangles! Trim the HSTs, then finish them up by ironing them!
- For stitch and flip units, press the triangle open before trimming to MAKE SURE that the triangle fills the corner!
- These units are not the same! Watch out for the direction of your stitch and flip! You need them to be mirrored for the block.
- Are these pieces the same? NO! These are also sewn together differently, watch the orientation of your HSTs!
- Sew the units together according to the instructions and keep repeating until you make 4 or 16!

- February: Month 6 blocks and Quilt Top Assembly
- March: Show off your amazing work!
