First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! This month it's all about the flying swallow block and the main center of the quilt! My quilt is made with Kaleidoscope by Island Batik! This month we use 5 different colors: one for the background star and 4 others for the flying swallows! Typically this block is made with diamonds and quite a few Y-seams, but my pattern has none!
Here are my Top Tips:
- There are A LOT of different pieces of all sorts and sizes for this block. Label your pieces!
- For the modified flying geese, you'll notice that the intersection is much lower than normal. This is correct!
- Did you keep your colors separated? These are different, make sure to follow the instructions in the pattern!
- Voila! A flying swallows quilt block for beginners! So neat, right?!
