Quiltcon 2020 Recap! (Friday Foto Fun #115)

The first week back to reality is always tough, but I've almost finished the week!  Quiltcon was amazing!  I got to see lots of friends and took some awesome classes.  For the first 1000 people that signed up for Quiltcon, you got an amazing swag bag!  Thank you to all the sponsors this year, it was a BLAST!

This year was the first year that I only took one sewing class though.  I took the double wedding ring class from Victoria Findlay Wolfe.  I've taken classes from her before at previous Quiltcons and have always learned a lot.  Here's what I made in class!

I can't wait to make more of these from abandoned blocks.  The center part of the double wedding ring fits a 12.5" block perfectly!

I also took two ruler classes on the longarm, one from Angela Walters and the other from Sarah Thomas.  Both fabulous longarmers themselves and great teachers!  If you ever get a chance to take classes with these amazing ladies, absolutely do it!

I took the Subtracting for Minimalism class with Cheryl Brickey, but I didn't get a photo with her (whoops!).  I also took a class with Heather Black called Making Color Work.  It was a really fun class that we got to play with watercolor and really prove out a lot of the color theory.  Christa Watson was also in the class!

Quiltcon is not all about the classes either.  There are lectures that happen on all 4 days, but I didn't end up attending one this year.  The quilt show is amazing in the exhibit hall and the vendor floor this year was amazing!  See my favorites from the Quilt Show here.

I normally try to cap my spending at these events but this year I overdid it a bit.  Here's my haul from day 1 and 2.  I contained myself on Saturday but went a little wild again on the last day.  Unfortunately (or thankfully) I didn't take a photo of my splurge purchases from Sunday.

Since this was my fourth Quiltcon, I got to meet up with a lot of friends.  I went to my first Quiltcon not knowing anyone at all and now one of the driving factors of going is to see all the friends I made throughout the years.  However, I also forgot to take a lot of the friend photos. But here are 2, the first is with my sister at Voodoo donuts and the second is with Irene and Tina, Longarmy friends from KC.

One of the ways that I've made friends at Quiltcon in the past is through the MQG swap! You can read about the quilt I made here.  My Swap Partner is Lori! Funny enough I made a quilt for a guild-mate of hers in 2017!  Don't you just love the mini she made me?  I love the rainbows and the quilting is just awesome!

Next year, Quiltcon will be in Atlanta and in 2022 Quiltcon will be in Phoenix!

Are you going to go to Quiltcon in Atlanta? If so, we should meet up!
