For the first time, I only made one of the bags slated for bag day.
I made the small version of the Open-out Box Pouch and it took me about 90 minutes from start to finish. I used 5 different fabrics left over from one of the Simply quilts from previous this year.
This was my first time using a separating zipper and the first time making a pattern from Aneely Hoey. I had issues with the curve on the zipper and the connection of the gusset piece. I think it looks okay while it's not zipped up, but even with batting in the bag it still looks weird zipped up.
You can get the pattern for the Open-out Box Pouch here.
After I made the one Open-out Box Pouch, I decided to make the Cailey Handbag pattern from Sew Many Creations that I picked up during Quiltcon!
I used the blue cork that I got from Fabric Funhouse at Quiltcon and some leftover Kate Spain fabric that I had from the Simply quilt backing. I think this bag turned out amazing! One of the tips, the seam allowance for this pattern is 1/4" not 1/2". It's not explicitly called out, but when I sewed a 1/2" for the front panels, my piece ended up 1/2" too short! Whoops! But it still turned out great!
This was the first time using the Jewel Strap Anchors and I love them! They look fabulous and were so easy to install!
You can pick up the Cailey Handbag pattern here.
Which bag is your favorite one to make? Since bag days are my favorite stream, I may add more as the year progresses. Check out my list of bags for this year here.
