Destashing to reduce anxiety (Friday Foto Fun #161)

It seems every 6 months or so I have a powerful urge to purge my stash (aka destash) on Instagram.  About a year and a half ago, I wrote a post about how to do a destash on Instagram, and you can read about that here.  This past weekend, I decided to another Instagram destash.

I listed so many fat quarter bundles because I realized with my pivot into making bags, I actually need more yardage for bags rather than fat quarters!  Even with the Simply Series quilts this year using fat quarters, I wouldn't be using the large 40 fat quarter collections in those quilts.  So if you are looking for some fat quarter bundles, check out my destash here.

During the destash, someone messaged me about a Bonnie and Camille buy, sell, trade group on Facebook.  I was really pleased to see that the fabric was selling on Facebook for specific designer fan groups!  I ended up selling some of my Bonnie and Camille fabric in the group rather than on Instagram.  But that got me thinking about other designers that may have a huge following... like Tula Pink.  I have a lot of Tula fabric that I had purchased through the years that I've been too anxious to cut into.

The group that I found is Tula Pink Love Sell Swap Share and I've been able to sell a lot of my Tula fabric on the site.  They also allow for auctions with reserves.  So if you are one that has been looking for a Flutterby or Hushabye Jelly Roll, I'm selling both of those via an auction that ends this Sunday at noon mountain time.

Most times after a destash, I end up thinking that I didn't really make a dent which in itself is a bit horrifying.  This is the first destash that I think I'm making progress in clearing out my stash and being more realistic with myself on what I still love and what is just taking up space!

I also got reminded that I had purchased fat eighth bundles of Arctic and the corresponding fat eighth bundles of wovens and essex linens to make Elizabeth Hartman's North Stars pattern.  I am really excited to make this quilt once I am able to get all the background fabrics needed!  This is going to be my token "not my pattern" quilt that I make this year!

Have you destashed your fabric before? How was your experience?
