Aurifil Artisan Challenge: 40wt Thread (Friday Foto Fun #187)

This month's Aurifil Artisan Challenge is to make a project with 40wt thread.  The 40wt thread is slightly thicker than the normal 50wt thread that I use for quilting and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite threads to sew bags.  I picked some faux leather vinyl and quilting cotton for the lining to make a Luz Marina from Oro Rosa Patterns.

The 40wt thread is offered in 270 colors which makes it really easy to find a matching color.  This teal matched the teal vinyl perfectly and the stitching is beautiful.

The Luz Marina has a divider in the middle of the bag that has this really neat side feature.  I picked a custom zipper pull to match the Disney-inspired panel on the exterior of the bag.

For the interior of the bag, I used a pretty floral from the Create Joy Project for Moda Fabrics.  The floral fabric matched the teal on the exterior of the bag.  The divider pocket in the middle is sewn in the bottom of the bag so items do not slide from one side to the other.

Here's how the bag looks all together!
