Today I'm sharing another bag made at the Wizardry Getaway, the Krystal Convertible bag by Linds Handmade! Lindsay actually taught this pattern at the getaway and it was really fun getting to know her in person. She's spectacular 😀
This shoulder bag converts to a backpack with the straps pulled away from the bag and it's super clever. I really love the version that I made at the getaway but the zipper pocket and the slip pocket on the back of the bag were reversed in the way that I'd like it. The pattern calls for the zipper pocket to be on the left for right-handed people when the bag is on your back. Even though I'm right-handed, I wear my backpack on my left shoulder and would want the pocket on the right side! Too bad I didn't realize until after the bag was completed that I wanted the zipper on the other size.
Lucky for me, there was enough fabric and what not (no hardware) left over for me to take home and make another Krystal! So on Saturday, I streamed making my second Krystal Convertible bag and this time I reversed the zipper pocket and slip pocket. The second photo is with the straps pulled into its backpack shape since I forgot to take that photo while at the retreat.
The interior of the bag was made up of waterproof canvas and there is a slip pocket and interior zipper pocket inside. Pro-tip for doing the interior zipper pocket - label the top of the lining because the zipper facing is not in the middle and it's really easy to rotate the lining and end up with a teeny tiny zipper pocket. I did that for my first one, whoops!
Overall I love this bag and I will be making more in the future! More bags to share from the retreat coming soon!
Have you ever sewn patterns from Linds Handmade, if so, which one is your favorite? She is one of the designers that I LOVE because her patterns are so easy to follow.
