Happy Friday!!! I have been using my modified Santorini Tote Bag that I made this past weekend. I wasn't able to incorporate all of the modifications that I wanted to include, but I'm still really pleased with the outcome. You can read about my potential modifications here.
About my bag:
- I used UV-changing vinyl exterior and while my bag is white, it turns purple in UV light!
- I ended up using Decovil Light and fusible foam as exterior interfacing for the bag.
- I used Geeky Fuse Cotton Soft for interfacing the interior lining fabrics.
- The base of the bag is Black Vinyl and has 9 bag feet (excessive!).
- The exterior pocket was narrowed down to avoid the strap connectors that I used on the bag. It's still fairly deep and goes almost as far down as my bag tag.
- The interior has one big zipper pocket. I opted to not put a normal slip pocket on the front interior panel.
- The strap anchors made the straps shorter than I expected, so the drop of the bag is not nearly as long as I think I would have liked.
The only thing I couldn't figure out how to incorporate is the slip pocket for the laptop in the bag. However, I couldn't figure out how I could do an attached base of the bag and flip the bag without doing a gusset and drop-in lining. I also think that the interior construction would need to be modified so that the seams don't bust or pull funny with the laptop slip pocket. This is something I need to think about the construction before I sew my next attempt.
Tomorrow, I'll be going live at 9am Central on my Twitch channel working on something fun. I still haven't decided what I want to sew yet since I have LOTS of secret sewing for a brand new collection I need to do off stream. Come hang out, chat, and sew with me!
What are your sewing plans this weekend?
