Sewing turns into Pixie Dust!

We were at Disney this past weekend and my sewing talent turned into some serious Pixie Dust!  We were rope-dropping Hollywood Studios this past Saturday, meaning we would be at the park super early as resort guests and try to be very close to the first people in line to enter the parks.  To our surprise, we got picked as the Family of the Day and OPENED THE PARK!

So how did this happen?!

To rope drop the park, we typically get on the resort bus an hour before early entry for resort guests (which is 30 minutes before the park opens to the public--Staying on property at a Walt Disney World resort gets you into the parks 30 minutes early).  We get to the park entrance about 45 minutes before early entry and start waiting in line to enter.  A Cast Member, Kristi, comments about the purse my sister is carrying.  This purse:

I don't think I ever blogged about it, but I made it back in 2020 and it was one of the first purses that I made with Cotton Lycra. Anyway, we chatted with Kristi for a bit about her hometown in California (hometowns are listed on Cast Member badges) and about Disneyland and our trip etc. Then she goes off and talks to other guests.  We are patiently waiting for the park to open to try to get in early on some of the rides that we know will have a long wait time later in the day.  The husband, my oldest nephew, and I start playing a phone game together when Kristi comes back up and asks us if we would like to join her and open the park... or something to that effect.  We quickly take the loss on the phone game and follow Kristi to a special entrance to tap our magic bands to enter the park.  She took our family photo and gave us a voucher for Mickey Bars for helping to open the park.  We didn't redeem these as 3 of the 5 people in our family shouldn't have dairy.  We took a selfie with her with all the people still waiting to tap into the park and then we got to help give the signal to OPEN THE PARK.  HOW COOL IS THAT?!  We determined it was all because of the bag I made my sister.  It's what started it all.  Even crazier is that the park opened 30 minutes BEFORE early entry, so a FULL HOUR before the park opened to the public!

Once we gave the signal to open the park, we were off to ride the rides.   We were the first guests in the parks and it was so cool to take photos as if we were the only ones there!

Because we got to go in early, the Husband, my oldest nephew, and I were the first people in line for Rise of the Resistance!  Then we walked onto Smugglers Run, I got a little queasy after riding the ride once but the boys went on it again.  My sister and her youngest went and rode Slinky Dog twice and Aliens twice before we met up together and rode Toy Story Mania.  The husband and I went and got coffee and tea while my sister and her boys rode Toy Story again.  Now it's like 9:30 am and the park has been open for an hour.  We head over to Ogas and get some snacks and refreshments.  We actually decided to leave the park and head back to the resort to spend the afternoon at the pool before heading back to the park that night.

Seriously, how amazing is that?!  A once a lifetime sort of experience and it allowed us to do all the big rides we wanted to do before lunch, so incredibly magical!

What's the coolest thing that sewing has gotten you?
