This week I was traveling for work in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and I stayed at Tru, a new Hilton brand family hotel. It's a really trendy hipster more affordable hotel. I saw inspiration for quilts everywhere with all the bright colors and designs throughout the hotel. My favorite was this amazing wallpaper. I actually want to make this into a quilt! (Who would have guessed? It has lots of triangles on it!)
Because of the travel, I ended up bringing a few hand-stitching items with me. I was able to finish off this wool pineapple welcome topper by Granny's Legacy Patterns that I purchased at the sewing expo last month. All of the blanket stitching and embroidery is hand stitched, perfect for traveling.
Instead of working on Windswept this past weekend, I decided to pull out Mod Dots from my unfinished pile. Mod Dots is a pattern that was developed by Sew Kind of Wonderful for Winter Quiltfest this past January, and I haven't worked on it since! The top row was done in class at Winter Quiltfest and the second row I made this week! (On a sad note, Winter Quiltfest is no longer getting put on.)
I started on a new wall hanging quilt for my husband! My husband streams Final Fantasy 6 on Twitch (online video streaming platform) so the quilt will be hanging on the wall behind him. This is the start of Kefka, the villain in the Final Fantasy 6 game. I am using Kona Solids with the fusible grid method. I wrote a tutorial using fusible grid a while ago, and it's my favorite method when sewing pixelated quilts!
I can't wait for the holidays when I'll be at home to work on all things quilty! Only a few more weeks left.
My available time for quilting this upcoming week:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday PM, Tuesday PM, Wednesday PM
Projects I want to work on:
PBQ106
Fox and Friends
Windswept
Starbucks Mug Rug Swap
Goals for the Projects:
PBQ106: Start Sewing Top Together (seriously, I need to do this... it's been neglected!)
Fox and Friends: Make one row
Windswept: Finish the hand applique parts
Starbucks Mug Rug Swap: Make my mug rug top
Your turn! What did you accomplish this week? A block? A quilt top? Link up below!
