Introducing the 2018 Monthly Color Challenge!
So what exactly is this challenge?
The challenge is to make something in a specific color designated for the month, either a quilt block or something else. Jen will be hosting a link up party at Patterns by Jen for the last week of the month. Share a photo of your project for the month, and you will be entered into the drawing for a prize. Jen will be picking winners on the first of each month.
Where do you get ideas for the challenge?
Each month Jen will be designing a block in the color of the month. Her block will be available in both 12″ and 6″ options. Jen does beautiful designs, and she promises these will be beginner friendly. The other bloggers participating in the hop will be either making Jen's block or sharing a project of their own, which may or may not be a quilt block. I will be making Jen's block AND be designing a block each month! My designed block will be free for the month, but then will be $1 each on my Craftsy pattern shop. If you join the challenge late and want to get all my blocks in one convenient place, the entire years' worth will be $10. Make sure to be subscribed to my blog to not miss any of my patterns while they are free!
I mentioned other bloggers, who all is taking part of this challenge?
Jen of Patterns by Jen
Sherry of Powered By Quilting <--- That's me!
Jen of A Dream and A Stitch
Nancy of Masterpiece Quilting
Joanne of Quilts By Joanne
Dione of Clever Chameleon Quilting
Diane Cullum of Sewing with D
Why would you want to join this challenge?
- You love meeting new quilters/designers/bloggers!
- You love a good challenge!
- You love scrap busting, the quilt will definitely be scrap worthy!
- You love to win prizes.
- You don't want to be left out!
Prizes?! How do I enter?
The last week of each month there will be a Linky party hosted on Pattern by Jen's blog. There will be no URL requirement, so you can upload a photo from your phone/computer. Limit to one entry per person per month. All the entries of every month will then get put into a grand prize drawing at the end of the year!
Who are the sponsors?
How much fabric will I need?
My honest answer: I'm not sure. It'll depend on how many blocks you end up making! I am using my scraps to make each color block! Since this challenge is color based, I am just making sure I have enough fabric to make 2 blocks of each color combo (2 blocks because I'm making Jen's and my own design). Scrap busting is the goal!

Sounds like fun!!!
Ok, I have a question. Do we make Jen’s block and the other designer blocks, or can we come up with our own blocks?
You can make ANYTHING! As long as it’s in the color of the month. 🙂 Jen’s block and all the other blocks are just ideas. 🙂
Thanks!
This is going to be so much fun. I sketched out 9 of my 12 blocks tonight. I can’t wait to sew what you come up with!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with too!!! I may end up making everyone’s blocks!!! 😛 This is really going to be a little challenging for me as I was planning I realized how much I use a white or a black/gray to break up my colors in blocks! >_< Happy Holidays!
Looks life fun I love yelloe
Thanks! You should definitely join us in the fun!
