Longarm Quilting Services

I quilt on a Handi-Quilter Amara and offer computerized edge-to-edge quilting services.

Please review the instructions below on preparing your quilt top and backing, and choosing your quilting design and batting choices.  If you have any questions, please email me at sherry (at) poweredbyquilting.com

Current Turnaround times: 1-2 weeks

Quilt top:

  • Press your seams well and check for any unsewn seams in your quilt top.
  • Trim any loose threads; darker threads tend to show through to the front of your quilt.
  • If you do not have a border on your quilt, please sew around the outside of all edges about 1/8”. This will keep the seams from pulling apart when loaded on the long arm and will not show when you add binding to your quilt.
  • If your quilt has a directional top, please mark it with a note attached with a safety pin so I can load it correctly.
  • Lay your quilt top out at home and check if it lays flat.  If your quilt does not lay flat, then the quilt may end up with extra puffiness, ripples, pleats, or tucks when quilted.

Quilt back:

  • Backing must be larger than your quilt top. Please make sure your backing fabric is at least 8” larger than your quilt top (4” on all sides).
    • For example, if your quilt top measures 60” x 60”, your backing fabric needs to measure at least 68” x 68”.
  • Please use a ½” seam allowance, remove the selvages at the seam, and press the seam open. You may leave the outside selvages on your backing.
  • Check to make sure all seams are secure.
  • If you have a directional back, indicate which is the top by attaching a note with a safety pin

Choose a Quilting Design:

Click on the design to see the name if it's not shown.  If you don't like any of the designs below, I can work with you to find one that suits your needs.  Indicate "contact me" on the form and I'll be in touch!  I also have another board with Pantos that I love but haven't gotten around to getting yet. If you like one of those, I should have no problem getting it for your quilt!  Visit that Pinterest board here.

You can also check out my Pantograph Gallery to see quilts stitched in the different designs.

Thread Color Choices:

I use So Fine! 50wt for longarming.  There are 134 colors to choose from!  Click on images to expand to see all the color options.

Batting Choices:

  • Batting must be larger than your quilt top. Please make sure your batting is at least 6” larger than your quilt top (3” on all sides).
    • For example, if your quilt top measures 60” x 60”, your batting needs to measure at least 66” x 66”.
  • If you choose not to mail your own batting, I offer the following for purchase for $10/yard (approx. 90"wide):
    • Warm and Natural
    • Warm and White
    • Warm and Plush
    • If you would like something else not listed, please email me at sherry (at) poweredbyquilting.com
