#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 1, Exercises 1-7

Welcome to the Week 1 wrap up of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!  If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year and check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge here.

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#1 The very first exercise is all about patterns with triangles!  I have yet to design a quilt pattern with triangles, so I played around with the hexagon shape.  I think this is something I should explore designs with in the future!

#2 So.. Ummm… this one started out with splotches on the page and the task was to create animals.  Probably the most hilarious exercise this week.  I put a face and some appendages on the splotches and called it good.  The piggy is my favorite.

#3 Drawing outside was the goal for this.  It's Minnesota in January and I live nowhere close to a skyline so I improvised.  Welcome to my backyard which I drew looking out the dining room window.  This actually turned out much better than I originally thought it would have.  I pencil sketched everything and then used a black thin line pen to accent the lines.

#4 I didn't quite get the entire page filled with swatches of color, but that's because I ran out of different colors in the mediums that I own (that are not colored pencils).  I have watercolors and brush markers included in my swatches.  I really adore the rainbow colors!

#5 Color in the fruit but not using the correct colors.  This is definitely a challenge the brain exercise.  I think I still somewhat failed as there are fruit that look like apples that are yellow and green, but I didn't know what I colors I could use outside of blue for everything but a blueberry!

#6 Finish the school of fish.  This one looks pretty good right?  Well all the pretty looking fish were already on the page, I added the awkward looking fish.  Also I learned that it's not a good idea to use the aquash watercolor brushes on an airplane.  The pressurization of air causes all sorts of spillage when you are in the air, plus even the little bumpiness causes my watercolors to go everywhere!

#7 The last one this week is to draw someone from memory.  Honestly, I don’t know who this is.  I hate drawing people. All people I draw have the same sort of style: poofy hair, no ears, and they look a little concerned!

Now that we've all had a good chuckle, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
