#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 5, Exercises 29-35

Happy Superbowl Sunday! I am currently avoiding downtown like the plague because there are just so many people here in Minneapolis!  This is the Week 5 wrap up of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!  If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge here.

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#29 Explore colors that look good together.  I feel like I have a tendency to always pair the same colors together. I took the time to try to pair different colors together, but then I came up with the Packers and Browns football colors, whoops.

#30 Add detail to these flowers. It also mentioned to use cut out pieces of paper or any other material, but I like my book to be able to close at the end so I opted to just use black pen to add details.  It never ceases to amaze me how the outlines and details can really transform a splotch of color.

#31 Draw your desk or a table.  This one gets the award for most boring this week.  This is my dining room table, pretty plain and brown.  I have too much junk on top of it at the moment to accurately draw anything, so it's left clear.

#32 Add foliage to the rest of the trees. The first two trees were done for you in the book.  I feel like the photograph of this page looks better than it does in real life.  All my leaves ended up being squiggles in some fashion.  The top right tree was my attempt at a weeping willow, but I'm not sure it turned out.  My attempt for fall foliage just makes the tree look like it's on fire!

#33 Draw a page of stars in any style you like.  The sample stars were drawn in warm colors, so I continued that color palette.  Like last week with the dots, I did one color at a time.  I think I ended up with a pretty even color throughout.

#34 Practice calligraphy by using this page to explore mark making. I used my brush marker for this, but I feel like I should go back to watercolor at some point.  This is definitely a skill that I want to work on.

#35 Complete the pattern. This was my favorite exercise this week.  Can you guess why? It is actually the reason why I am doing this book. Completing the pattern didn't require much creativity, but more of completing a task.  I am very good at completing tasks, but my creativity still needs some work.  So maybe it shouldn't have been my favorite.

Now that we've all had a good chuckle or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!

Amazon can't seem to keep this book in stock!  Hopefully they'll get more copies in soon, and you too can join me in this creative endeavor!
