#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 8, Exercises 50-56

Week 8 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!  If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge here.

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#50 Design a pattern using the grid. I've never designed anything with a hexagon pattern, but it was interesting.  It reminded me of English Paper Piecing hexies.  My goal was to create a line of 6 hexagons scattered on the page.  I was trying for an improv-ish look.  I think it kind of looks like colorful bacteria.

#51 Add patterns to the vases. I think that I ran out of designs... there were only so many things that I could think of.  I do think that trying to fill the space on the vases helped me think about patterns.  Now to transfer that sort of mindset to quilt blocks!

#52 Continue the pattern. I finally pulled out my watercolors again!  I am actually pretty proud of how well I got the pink to match the pre-printed ones on the page and less so of the orange that didn't match at all! I also painted all the pink diamonds first which made making my lines in between much harder to actually be straight.  I should have definitely done them in the reverse order.

#53 Design a pair of trousers (pants). I was going for an embroidered jeans look with vines and flowers.  Does coloring pants blue make them automatically jeans?

#54 Add trees to the forest. I had such a fun time with #52 with watercolors, I pulled them out again!!!  I used a brown fineliner for the tree trunks.  I did not use watercolor like the examples pre-printed nor did I have a light brown fineliner.  I attempted to do some fun blending of colors for my trees, some of which turned out better than others.  I think this exercise wins the favorite of this week!

#55 What has the pen just finished drawing? Somehow this pre-drawn fine-tip marker did some really fun thick lettering!  I'm a maker!! <3

#56 Fill the bowl with a mixture of colorful fresh fruit. Normal colored fruit here!  I got a banana, 2 oranges, an apple, and a pear!  It was so nice not to have to think of different colors like I did in Week 1!

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
