It's Week 23 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! If you haven't started yet, no worries! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#155 Visit a museum or busy train station. Draw people you see passing by. So no train stations or museums near me, so this was at a restaurant. People are really difficult to draw when they are walking around. I'm not a fan nor am I good at it.
#156 Shading can add depth to your drawings. There are different techniques for shading, including the ones below. Using these four techniques, shade these oranges. This is pretty self-explanatory. I used colored pencils for the left two oranges and then thin fine line markers for the dots and watercolor for the gradient!
#157 Draw the ingredients of your favorite sandwich. So I had to google a head of lettuce, and I still think my lettuce is laughable. But I think you can clearly see it's a cheeseburger with all the ingredients on the page.
#158 Create some watercolor or paint splodges. What could they become? A creature? A pattern? None of the above, it turns out to be a hot mess. I apparently do not know how to make splodges on a page. I think it just turns into a messy stain of a color. This exercise gets the utter fail of the week.
#159 People watching provides great drawing practice and can be done when you feel like it. Practice drawing people out and about. So I was a bit late with this one as I really dislike drawing people. I ended up trying to draw my sister as we were out to dinner. Then she made faces for a while to make my drawing more realistic, it was rather funny.
#160 Add patterns to the butterflies. This is my favorite exercise this week. I ended up doing some doodling and some fun graffiti quilting practice drawing inside the butterflies. I decided to keep them uncolored to really appreciate just the line drawings inside. I really need to get some free motion graffiti practice soon.
#161 Calligraphy Practice. It's been a while since our last calligraphy page. I think we did an upside down version of these Es. I really should practice this more consistently to get better.
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
