Sister Sewing Weekend! (Friday Foto Fun #36)
My sister, Sandra, came to visit last weekend and it was the first weekend the house was on the market. We did end up sewing a bit, but it was sew, pack up and leave the house when there was a showing, then return and take everything back out and sew some more, repeat. Not ideal but we made it work.
It has been a long journey to convince my sister that quilting is super amazing and that she should join in on the fun! She joined me at Winter Quiltfest in January of 2017 and QuiltCon 2018. She has completed one quilt, so far. Rhonda quilted it and I bound it for her. We also used to do sewing Sundays via Google Hangouts since she's lives on the west coast and nowhere near me! I think I have finally convinced her to become a quilter! SUCCESS!!! QuiltCon 2019 in Nashville is on her schedule, and I'm convincing her that she should upgrade her starter machine to the Juki straight stitch TL-2200 mini. I got mine at QuiltCon 2018 and it is amazing! Look at all the fun projects she was able to finally get finished this past weekend!
The Mondo bag made with Aria by Kate Spain! At Winter Quiltfest, she picked up the kit to make this bag. I decided to make one too, so over the course of a few Sundays we got the panels completed. But then this project sat unfinished for a good 8 months or so. Mine is still currently incomplete, but Sandra's is now done!
The top for a pillow. This was an English Paper Piecing class that she took from Violet Craft at QuiltCon 2018. My sister finished off the sides with some sashing, so she's ready to quilt it and make it into a pillow cover!
I'm so proud to have another quilter in the family! So much fun!
I'm off to Dallas for the weekend to visit family and will be visiting Moda today! I'm so excited! I'll share what I see in a later blog post!

Sisters are the best. Mine got me into quilting 25 years ago. I still treasure the quilting time we have together.

Yay, you made Sandra a quilter, how fabulous!
It sounds like a great weekend and hooray for another quilter! Let us know when she starts a blog, mwahaha! 🙂 I hope the Moda tour is fun and interesting and I am definitely looking forward to hearing how it goes.
Hi Sherry! Oooh, can’t wait to hear about Moda – I know you’re having f.u.n. How nice that your sister got to come and visit and support you during this stressful time. I’m hoping you’ll have good news to share sooner than later. Sisters are fab and how great that she quilts, too. Happy Friday! ~smile~ Roseanne
You two are sew cute!!! The Mondo bag and the pillow are just fun, fun, fun! Can’t wait to hear about Moda.
So much fun to have a sister who sews and now quilts! The moda trip is so interesting….I was near one of the fabric manufacturers in NYC and was soooo tempted but wrong time and wrong company. Any “bites” on the house? Hoping for a quick and easy sale for you.
What a fabulous name your sister has! I would love to get my sister into quilting but she tells me she doesn’t have the time. I tell her that none of us have the time, we just do it anyway!! Good luck with the house.
