Week 35 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! I hope you are having a great holiday weekend so far! It's a bit crazy at the beginning of each month with the extra blog posts! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#239 Write something that happened today that made you feel proud. My coworker asked if I bought or made my purse! The purse they were asking about was the woven tote that I made for the summer tote challenge. I really love how that tote turned out and to be compared to a purchased bag is pretty sweet!
#240 Arrange some small objects in front of you. Draw the negative space around them. The objects that I was drawing around are the supplies that I got to make my ornament! I joined the Ornament Girls Club and I got a pineapple ornament kit to make.
#241 Draw an animal from life. Animals are great subjects as they don't mind being drawn! They do tend to move around a lot so practice working quickly, and try to draw key information and characteristics. This is where being allergic to cats and afraid of dogs is problematic to completing the exercise. I decided to very quickly draw my stuffed animal to simulate drawing an animal. As you can see, it didn't turn out the best. When I'm drawing quickly, it's really hard for me to figure out the leg orientation so I just drew way too many! Whoops!
#242 Make a pattern in the shapes. This is an exercise that has been repeated several times, but each time I do the exercise my ideas definitely change! I've seen design a day challenges in the past and that is something I definitely should look at doing. If you are looking for triangle paper, it's actually listed as isometric paper.
#243 Draw the cover of your favorite book. This book is my current obsession. Do you recognize the cover? I binge read the entire trilogy in two days the weekend before the movie was released. It is SO good. Definitely worth reading all three books. This is the cover of the first book in the Crazy Rich Asians series. I think it looks pretty similar to the cover!
#244 Add patterns to the shells. I didn't deviate a lot from what I thought the shells should look like. Looking back, I think I should have tried to just do fillers inside the shells for free motion motifs. I think trying to predict the shell patterns was rather boring.
#245 Draw somewhere you would like to visit. Machu Picchu is on my bucket list! Drawing a landscape is really hard especially since there is just so much detail. I googled Machu Picchu postcards and attempted to replicate (poorly) one of the postcards!
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
