#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 37, Exercises 253-259

Week 37 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!   This week I had to skip an exercise because I still don't own oil pastels!  Whoops, I guess I should order some! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#253 Add in the horizon, or the rooftops of the buildings you see. I don't know why I always default to doing a skyline, but this is drawn from looking at part of the Kansas City skyline.  I drew it rather large so I accidentally ran out of space!

#254 Color in the boats and give each of them a name.  This was such a fun and colorful exercise.  I also wrote in a name in each of the boats.  The names are VERY TINY, it was actually difficult to write that small!

#255 Practice people watching. Use pencil and work quickly, trying to capture the personality of the person in your drawing.  Exercises like these make me realize just how anti-social I am and how much I don't like drawing people!  So instead I drew what I look like trying to do this exercise sitting at a table.  I look displeased.

#256 Look at the previous drawing and redraw elements you like, adding color.  This is a perfect example of not following directions.  I redrew the table, but I missed the perspective part and I didn't color it in.  I drew the table looking from the top but then added the legs down rather than through the page.

#257 Explore different materials to discover what you enjoy using.  Today, experiment with oil pastels to create different marks.  You can try smudging them with your finger to blend colors.  Again, I need to get oil pastels!

#258 Use the grid to design a pattern.  This is a fun grid of green!  I was thinking about 9-patches and 4-patches when I was coloring in this grid.  How much fun would this be as a quilt?!

#259 Design the pattern on the fan. I filled the fan in with quilting motifs and rotated the different types through the blades of the fan.  I chose not to color the fan so it didn't detract from the lines.  I really love how this turned out.

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
