Week 40 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! I had lots of fun with this week's exercises... except for the first one. The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#274 Fill the page with things that are the color purple. We have done this exercise with lots of different colors, and I've been dreading purple. Outside of a plum, an eggplant, and grapes, what objects are the color purple? The example already included flowers. I mean I could have drawn a purple rotary cutter and purple thread but I thought that would be cheating. Maybe I should have drawn Barney the purple dinosaur, but that might have been frightening.
#275 Calligraphy practice: today, use the opposite page to try an alphabet. This is the first time I did calligraphy with my aquash brushes and since I've practiced lettering with these brushes before, it was way easier than my brush markers! Who knew? I thought the brush markers would be the easiest, but my aquash brushes are so much better!
#276 Using colored pencils, write down something that inspired you this month. I got a new monthly calendar for next year and the color had colorful stripes! I always love a brand new calendar and the start of planning a new year!
#277 Call up a friend. Ask them, "What is your favorite animal?" Draw it! I called the husb (editor's note: husband) and his favorite animal is a tiger. I had no idea how to draw a tiger so I found this "how to draw a tiger" pin on Pinterest for kids. I think my tiger turned out pretty good (editor's note: not so sure about that). I showed Nick and he pretty much said that was nothing like a tiger and yes it's similar to the how-to, but it was definitely not a tiger. Boo.
#278 Add plants to the pots. This one turned out much better than the previous exercise of adding plants to pots. I showed Nick and he made the comment that there were a lot of cacti. Well, guess what? Cacti are WAY easier to draw than normal plants! Without the cacti, all of my plants would look like the upper left plant!
#279 Cut a piece of fruit in half and draw what you see. I used a plum since I was eating a plum... It's not the best drawing but the plum was tasty. I'm counting it as a win.
#280 Color in the circles. I used watercolor for this one to play with the colors. It was fun to make some circles darker than others and it give this exercise a lot of variety.
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
