Needle, Paper, Scissors Challenge!

This month's Island Batik Challenge is to create a quilt that is either foundation paper pieced or English paper pieced (EPP).  The fabrics featured in this post were given to me by Island Batik.  I have a love-hate relationship with EPP, and I have yet to finish a single EPP project.  I opted to do some paper piecing this month instead and I found this beautiful pineapple paper pieced pattern by Pitcher's Boutique! Remember my pineapple addiction from my pineapple ornament, I just can't get enough!  The pineapple itself is 20" tall!

I decided to make this a wall hanging rather than a mini.  The pattern comes in multiple sizes, but I made the largest at 20".  There are 4 different green batiks for the top and 5 different yellow batiks for the pineapple body.

The pineapple came together pretty quickly.  I ended up assigning each of the colors a number and wrote on the paper which number went with that part to make sure I got an even blend throughout the piece.

I was really tempted to create a pillow cover with this mini, but I felt like there needed to be more color and I wanted it to hang in my kitchen!  I added an orange border around the pineapple to give it a citrus feel!

What do you think, should I have made a pillow?  or was the wall hanging the right choice?
