Week 46 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! Happy almost Turkey day! I can't believe we are quickly approaching the holidays already, and I am almost done with this book! It's so neat! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#316 Draw a nighttime scene outside this window. That is not a showerhead... it's a streetlamp. I was trying to capture that it was snowing outside and that you can see the snow better under the streetlamp. However, It looks eerily similar to a showerhead. I am also displeased that it's already snowed three times in Kansas City this year, but at least it melts pretty quickly!
#317 Glue in an article that interests you. I don't have any paper articles anymore but this article is pretty interesting. Make Things App Attempts New Pattern Subscription Model from Craft Industry Alliance.
#318 Continue to build your confidence with your art. Draw something in public today, where people might see you. Perhaps in a cafe. It can be as quick as you like and it's a great way to make you feel more comfortable drawing. Silly book, you think I go outside! Spoiler alert, I go to work and then I stay home and sew for like 99% of the rest of my time. I decided to draw some doodles and I actually had a harder time this instance and I think for next year I need to doodle every day to get my strokes to be more even and to get flowing motif to motif.
#319 Use cut-out pieces of paper to draw some plants. You could use colored pencils to add details. If you would like a particular shade, you could paint over some white paper. Be sure to let it dry before cutting. I am striking out this week with exercises... I abhor cutting paper out to make things. Instead, I decided to draw my version of the plant on the right and fill it in with quilting fillers. It looks... interesting.
#320 Calligraphy practice: try writing your name using the skills you have practiced. I clogged up my thin lettering brush so I ended up using my large brush. I think it turned out okay but I could use some more work on the "S"s.
#321 Put on some fast-paced music, take a colored pencil in your hand, close your eyes and draw as you listen to music. I need more instruction on WHAT to draw. It ended up just scribbling to the beat and so this is a hot mess. I listened to Adrenaline by Thousand Foot Krutch. (Editor's note: This is hilarious)
#322 Today, try drawing with a line and wash. This time, create your wash first, by roughly painting an object in watercolor. Then use a fineliner pen or sharp colored pencil to add detail and outline. I think by the end of this book you'll realize we only have 3 different plants in the house. They are all tiny succulents and I've drawn them all in various styles throughout the exercises in this book. But I think this one turned out fine, better than some of the other cringe-worthy exercises this week!
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
