December Color Challenge Block!

Can you believe it's already December? This is the last block of the Color Challenge! Setting instructions will be posted December 15th. This month's colors are BLACK-WHITE! If you want more details on the challenge, read about it here. This month the fabrics used in my blocks are sponsored by RJR Fabrics! These fabrics are from their Bare Essentials Deluxe collection!

Jen from Patterns by Jen designed a block that can be made in 6" and 12" finished. I opted to make all the blocks 12" to match the blocks I designed. You can get Jen's block pattern from her blog here.

The goal of the challenge is to have an entire block or project made from that month's color.

This is the last block in my sampler quilt. My block this month uses 4 different black and white prints! This block includes some fun strip piecing to make a quarter square triangle block. If you own a quarter square triangle ruler, this block is easy peasy. If you do not own the ruler, don't worry the instructions show how to cut the triangles with a normal ruler.

UPDATE: Here is how to align the ruler to cut your 45deg angles. Use the 45deg line on your ruler and align it with one side of the strip. Cut the angle. Rotate your ruler so that you can cut the other 45deg line. *Note the image below is a smaller version to show how to align your ruler.

On December 15th, I'll be posting setting instructions for a 12 block sampler quilt. Closer to the end of the month when I post the reminder for the end of month link up, I'll be posting setting instructions for a 24 block quilt.
