December Color Challenge Revisited with a 24 block setting (Friday Foto Fun #63)

Happy Friday before Christmas!  I'm posting this a little bit early this month, but I wanted to get my 24 block setting instructions out to you early!  The December Color Challenge link up will open on December 24 to enter your block for prizes!  YAY!!! Make sure to head over to Patterns By Jen's blog to link up.  If you missed the kickoff of the challenge, you still have time to make something BLACK-WHITE and enter!  Read about the December Challenge here.

This is my 3rd black-white block, this one using Jen of Dizzy Quilter's Circle Play block!  Like previous months, I used my quarter circle templates to make my paper piecing templates to make this wonderful block!  Check out my January post that walks through the process for the circle.  This month the idea was strip piecing and cutting again to make a checkerboard.  It gives the circle some fun depth.

Don't forget to download my block free until the end of the month as well!  Please note given the changes with Craftsy, I will be moving all of my PDF patterns (block patterns, specialty QAL blocks, and full quilt patterns) over to Payhip by next Friday.  Etsy will still house my full quilt patterns and paper copies.

Now the fun part, a 24 block setting!  I made all 12 of Patterns by Jen and Dizzy Quilter's block this year in addition to my own 12 blocks (Read about my 12 block setting here).  For this setting, you will need an additional six 12.5" squares of a neutral fabric, in my case I chose charcoal.

With the addition of the 6 charcoal blocks, I made a 5 by 6 block quilt which ends up being 60"x72".  There is a hard to see block in the photo on the last row since I used some of the darker purples. Columns 2 and 4 consist of all color challenge blocks, and columns 1, 3, and 5 have 4 color challenge blocks and a charcoal block on the top and bottom.

I am trying to decide if I want to add a thin border on the sides of the quilt to give it a slight frame.  If you choose to do that, you'll need the width of the frame plus 0.5" for your seam allowance by 72.5" tall. Good luck and I can't wait to see your finished quilts!

Don't forget the link up is open until December 31st on Patterns by Jen's blog to win this month's prize!

The winner this month will receive a Fog Modern Backgrounds Colorbox Bella Solids fat quarter bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop!

Don't forget to visit the other bloggers who are participating in this challenge to check out their projects and blocks! I can't wait to see what they are up to as well!
