Abstract Garden Blog Hop + Giveaway!

I was lucky enough to play with this fun fabric last fall and made a Jelly Roll Rug for Christa's Fall Market booth. I love the vibrant colors of Abstract Garden and the fabric line coordinates so well with Christa's previous 2 fabric lines! Read about my Fall Market experience here.
Making the Jelly Roll rug, I decided that I wanted to make the rug in rainbow color order. I tried to make sure that none of the same prints were next to each other, too!
The next step for the jelly roll rug is to make one really long strip of fabric!
My original intention was to have red on the inside of the rug and rainbow outwards. However when you make the rope ball, the end you start with first will be the OUTSIDE of the rug. I started with the pink/purple side instead of the red. The rope ball gets really big and I tend to sew part of the rope, wind the ball, pin the tail so it doesn't unwind, and repeat until I'm finished. My stuffed animal is standing on my rope ball to help show size!
Sewing the rope ball into a rug, make sure that your surface is flat and the rug doesn't droop over the side of your machine. This will help the rug stay perfectly flat with little starch at the end! I actually was able to keep my rug flat enough I didn't need to starch at all! You can read about my first experience making a Jelly Roll Rug here.

Things you'll need to make this Jelly Roll Rug:
- Jelly Roll Rug Pattern by Roma Quilts
- One 2.5" strip pack of Abstract Garden fabric
- Bosal Batting Roll (50 yards)
- Jeans sized needle
- Wonder Clips (these are the best for making the rope)

I have a 20 month old granddaughter that I love making clothes for. With this fun, bright fabric I could make many things for her. A little quilted jacket would be fun to make.
Oh, love the fabric. I would love to play with it and make a quilt for one of my grandchildren.
I just saw a cute tutorial for some thread catchers for gifts for sewing friends. Always handy to have around as thread seems to get everywhere!
These prints will fun to make stuff for my kitchen. I’m in need of some new potholders for starters, then some placements. The pastels would make fun pillowcase cuffs.

Oh wow, this fabric is just my style! Bright colors and geometric prints, perfect! I would like to make a zip pouch (or several) as well as including these fabrics in quilts.
What fun and bright colors – my granddaughters would love something from these.
I think I’d make bags with this..drawstring, backpack, cosmetic bags….and on and on.
A jelly roll rug
This fabric is so bright and colorful…I would make some pouches.
to me these colors are calling to be made into a summer throw.
