Sew Let’s Quilt Along Announcement!
Ready for another Quilt Along?! Partners in Design is announcing our 3rd quilt along today with a Sewing Theme! Sew Let's Quilt Along, starts in 2 weeks on March 12, 2019!
Who are Partners in Design?
We are a group of designers and bloggers who have been working together for the last couple of years and this is our 3rd QAL! The first two QALs were I Wish You a Merry QAL and Fall Into A QAL! I cannot wait to start sewing along with you again!
So what exactly is this Quilt-A-Long?
A Quilt-ALong (or QAL) is a quilt you make following a host who posts each step on a schedule. You share your progress and in this case, you will get entered into some pretty awesome prizes! There are some QALs that are set to make a known quilt and others (like this one) that are a mystery, where you won't know what the quilt looks like until the very end! There is no charge to enter the QAL, and the patterns will be posted for free from each designer until the end of the QAL. Make one or all of the blocks!
We've added more options this year with the addition of small projects! We divided the QAL into 3 segments with prizes and project details posted at the end of each segment! The schedule for the QAL is located below!
How much fabric will I need to complete this quilt?
This is a tough question. There are 13 blocks this QAL, 12 blocks that will be 12" finished and one block that will be 18"x24". I will continue to make my QAL quilts with Moda Grunge. I am picking some of my favorite colors for this quilt. I purchased a yard of each of these colors but I will be pulling from the leftovers of the previous 2 QALs to round out my color palette. I would recommend using scraps for this quilt that you think coordinate together!
What is the schedule?
The fun kicks off Tuesday, March 12th with block tutorials released every other Tuesday. If you forget, don’t worry! I made a quick links page to each tutorial that will be updated with each new block release. I will also be posting here for each block release! All of the block patterns will be free until September 24, 2018.

We've lined up plenty of prizes for each segment as well as a grand prize at the end of the QAL. The prizes are open to participants who are at least 18 years old. Void where prohibited by law.
There are several ways in which you can enter to win prizes!
- If you are on Facebook: Join the Partners in Design, Where Friends and Fabric Meet Facebook Group. Each Designer will be posting links to their tutorials there, and it will be used as a place to ask questions and post photos of your finished block for prizes.
- If you are on Instagram: Use the hashtag #SewLetsQAL on your finished block to be entered to win.
- Each Designer will have a Linky Party on their block tutorial post so you can link your progress to their blog to be entered to win.
To be eligible for Segment Prizes, you must complete all the blocks in the segment. Share a photo or photos in a single post will all the blocks in the segment to enter!
To be eligible for the Grand Prize, you must complete all the blocks in the QAL and turn it into a quilt or other projects. The quilt tops do not need to be quilted, but the projects need to be completed. Share a single photo of all the complete projects or quilt top to enter! You can make as many projects or quilts as you like as long all each block is used at least once!
To keep the contest portion of the quilt-along fair and fun for everyone, only quilters that use all of the designers' blocks (in a quilt or project(s)) will be eligible for prizes. Likewise, our segment prizes will only be open to those that make all of the designers’ blocks for that segment.
We are really lucky to have some amazing sponsors on board for this quilt along! Please check them out as thanks for supporting us.

Really looking forward to it!
Hi, I am looking forward to this quilt! I am a bit confused about the fabric requirements.
Also is there any indication of the finished size? Thank you.
Hi Margaret! For fabric requirements, it’s actually pretty hard to determine. It really depends on what colors you want to add and how much you are going to need in addition to your stash! Each of the quilt hosts will be posting a potentially different quilt top layout at the end that will change the fabric requirements as well. I would suggest having a half yard to a yard of some main colors that you would want for the quilt and any extras can be used as additional sashing or borders in the final layout. I know that’s not super helpful! Mystery quilts are a bit hard since colors are everything isn’t determined ahead of time either! The final size for the quilt that I will most likely be presenting at the end of the QAL shouldn’t exceed 60″ square.
Choosing the right fabric is the basic thing. I like to browse your blog very much. Your blog is really great! I am very happy that you share such things.
