#The100DayProject Starts Today!

I am joining in this year on the 6th annual #The100DayProject!  The 100 days of what, you ask?  This is a global project that takes place online each spring that people work on some creative project of their choosing for 100 days straight.  Anyone can join and it's not too late because today is Day 1!  Read more about it at the100dayproject.org.

You know I'm a sucker for a good challenge to keep me motivated (see my 365 Days of Art challenge last year)!  I figured this is the best time for me to really (and I mean really) get some dedicated time to learn and get better at Free Motion Quilting!  I keep saying year after year that I need to get better and I need to practice more, but I never make the time to do it.  So game on!

I did a small amount of prep work to make my days less cumbersome and give myself a higher chance of success.  I made quite a few quilt sandwiches already spray basted and ready to be quilted!

I wound up LOTS of bobbins, but I seem to have already used a few in piecing the last few days (whoops!).

I've gathered all of my Free Motion Quilting books to give me inspiration for each day.  Seriously, I think I thought that buying more books was going to magically make me a better quilter.  Spoiler alert... it doesn't if you don't practice.

I'm ready to go!

One of the goals is also to share the project DAILY!  I plan on using Instagram Stories to share my FMQ piece each and every day.  That means I'm going to need to figure out how to FMQ during Sewtopia and Modern Stitching Affair, good thing I'll have sewing machines with me!

The other thing, I'm not going to do an entire fat quarter sandwich each day.  The rule of thumb was to pick something creative that wasn't going to take too terribly long because you want to be successful in whatever creative endeavor you chose to do.  I'm going to be dividing my quilt sandwich into quarters and quilting a quarter each day.  I drew lines on the fat quarter, but I now realize they are hard to see.

I also plan on taking out some of my smaller quilts and free motion quilting those as well as I build my confidence!  It never looks as terrible as I think it does while I'm quilting.

Are you joining in the fun, and if so what are you planning on doing?

Join me again on Friday for Friday Foto Fun! Link up and share your progress on your own projects!
