Child’s Play Challenge Quilt!
Did you miss me? I'm baaackk!!! (kind of) We are currently in transit from Missouri to New Mexico! All of our stuff will arrive here... well sometime in the next week, I'm not sure yet! I actually created this quilt earlier this month but with the move, it's been so busy to even sit down and post about it!
This month's Island Batik Ambassador Challenge is to create a Child's quilt using the AccuQuilt BOB (Block On Board) die. The fabrics and AccuQuilt Cutter showcased in this post were given to me by Island Batik and AccuQuilt as a part of the ambassador program.
I received the Crossed Canoes BOB die. Using the BOB die is way easier than foundation paper piecing this block or trying to rotary cut the diagonals accurately!
I used Jackie Kunkel's new Electric Desert fabric line and some Island Batik White solid. I love batik fabric because the blocks press super flat!
I made 12 blocks and realized if I rotated the blocks, it'd create an orange peel-ish design. I also thought of how to make this more child-friendly and thought about hopscotch on the playground. I added 9-patch blocks to the cornerstones of the quilt to bring in that fun factor.
I capped off the quilt with a nice border to keep everything together. Then I used my longarm to quilt it!
All in all, I love how this quilt turned out and the BOB die really made it easy to make this block!

That’s a fun twist on the block design, Sherry! Hope your move and settling in goes well!
Hi, Sherry! I was wondering where you were with your move and missed you. I love the crosses canoes design—always have. The cutter would make it so much easier! Your design is very fun, great effect.
Great quilt, and you are a rockstar keeping up with all of this AND moving.
I’m impressed that you could do this AND move! Love this crossed canoes variation. It’s been fun to see the different ways people use the same die.
I love this and you are so totally amazing. “See you” when you reach NM! I expect you actually have as I am just catching up.
That’s so pretty! Great use of the die and great addition to the design. Good luck with the move!
looks great and so modern!
Turned out wonderfully…..love it
