7 Holiday Gifts Quilters Actually Want! (Friday Foto Fun #102)

Happy Friday before Black Friday!  Do you know what you are getting for the lucky quilter in your life?  I decided to compile a list of the 7 things that I couldn't live without in my sewing studio! Plus it's before Black Friday or Cyber Monday so you can still be on the lookout for some awesome deals!

#1 I wouldn't be a speedy quilter without a sewing machine!  If your lucky quilter is in the market for a fast and robust machine, I highly recommend getting a straight stitch Juki.   I personally own a TL2200 Mini, but I think the newest model is a TL18.  There are also a few others like the TL2010 or the TL2000 that are the older models of the straight stitch machine for a more affordable price.

#2  With a good machine, you need good thread so there is less lint build up in your machine!  I personally LOVE using Aurifil 50wt for anything I sew on my Juki!  I'm a 2024 girl all the way... meaning I use the bright white for everything!  If you didn't catch my announcement yesterday on Instagram, I am one of the 2020 Designers for the Aurifil Designer of the Month!

#3 A new rotary blade. Most quilters have a rotary cutter, but we don't change blades often enough! After a blade change, I always wonder why I didn't change the blade sooner!  Cutting fabric is so much easier when you have a sharp blade!  I love my Olfa Endurance Blades because they last so much longer than a standard blade!  As a side note:  I have purchased a new LDH rotary cutter and blades, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.  I was really impressed at Quilt Market with their products so I can't wait to report back about the LDH rotary cutter and blades.

#4 An Oliso Iron.  Yes, this iron is a bit pricey but I will never go back to a normal non-auto lifting iron again.  You can check out my in-depth review of the iron here.  In fact, you can purchase an iron for 20% off using coupon code PBQ20.  I'd really appreciate it if you used my affiliate link!  My Oliso works best with a hard pressing board rather than an ironing board and I created a tutorial for a DIY version.

#5 What's a quilt without the batting?  I use Warm & Natural batting as my go-to batting.  It quilts beautifully for me and I can find it easily.

#6 Electric Quilt 8 aka EQ8.  I design my quilt patterns in EQ8 as well as create all my mockups with it.  It's gotten super user-friendly and is a great resource for any quilter!

Last but not least...

#7 If you are really stuck on what to get your lucky quilter, a gift certificate for fabric at Fat Quarter Shop is the fastest gift you can get!  There is not a quilter that will say No to Fabric!
