Oakley Organizer Crossbody Bag (Friday Foto Fun #137)

Happy Friday!  Last weekend, I decided to do an impromptu bag stream on my Twitch channel.  I ended up making the Oakley Organizer Crossbody Bag with some Pirate Mickey fabric I just got.  The bag turned out super cute!!!

The bag actually took me 10 hours total to complete!  By far the longest that I've spent on a bag.  I streamed 5 hours on Saturday and then another 5 hours on Sunday!  This was the first time that I used faux leather in a bag as well.  Probably not the best bag to make with faux leather for the first time.

The bag's front has 2 slip pockets and 2 zipper pockets.  That meant that the front of the bag was SUPER thick with faux leather!  My Juki definitely struggled a bit to sew the bag.  Not so much getting the thread through and sewing, but the presser foot on my Juki barely got over the thickness of the bag!

The back of the bag is faux leather with a zipper pocket.  I used dome bag feet on the bag even though it's a crossbody.  I figured with this many pockets this bag could get heavy quickly!

The side of the bag used connectors sewn on and reinforced with rivets.  My rivet press is one of the best tools that I've purchased to get perfect rivets!

I sewed the entire bag with matching blue and white Aurifil 50wt thread.  However, given the thickness of this bag, I probably should have used 40wt thread.  We'll see how the thread holds up after use.  I have made many other bags with 50wt that stood up to wear and tear.  I think if I continue making bags, I should look into an industrial sewing machine! (Editor's (Husband's) Note: We don't need an industrial sewing machine)

Tomorrow is the "official" Bag Day and I'll be making the Townsend Bag by Sallie Tomato!  Come and hang out with me starting at 8am MDT on my Twitch channel.

What are your weekend sewing plans?
