Apothecary Handbag (Friday Foto Fun #278)
Happy Friday from Europe! Not actually on vacation, but here for a work trip for a week. I wanted to finally share the finished Apothecary Handbag by Sincerely Jen Patterns that I finished this past weekend!
The handbag is the smaller of the 2 versions that come with the pattern. I decided to use two different types of vinyl for the exterior, water resistant canvas for the interior, and seatbelt webbing for the handle and straps. The front of the bag has two separate zipper pockets and the back has a slip pocket the size of the bag.
The interior of the bag does not have a slip pocket, but has a zipper pocket on one side where the bag was turned. I decided to add a zipper facing for a more cohesive look to the bag.
Overall thoughts on the bag:
- I really don't love curved bottoms on bags. I made a boo boo on stitching and then tried to fix it, which made the puckering worse. I really should have used a stapler on the edges to keep them together for the exterior.
- I love how I shorted the crossbody strap to act as a shoulder strap and a crossbody strap. The handles are only made for holding.
- I really love this size of bag as it's pretty spacious and doesn't allow me to over pack my purse with unnecessary items.
As a reminder, no stream tomorrow since I'm out of town. I'll see you on May 13 for Starlight BOM and Summer Delight BOM!
What are your sewing plans this weekend?
