QAL by the Sea Block 11!

Block 11 is released today!  I can't believe there is only ONE more left!  This QAL has gone by so fast!  Abbie of Sparkle On! is this week's designer.  Be sure to bookmark my quick links page so you have easy access to all the blocks and hosts!  You can also find the quick links page by clicking the button on the right side of my page.

I am running out of blue grunge so I used a lot of grunge dots in this block!  The white and the black pieces were scrap pieces from previous blocks.

Here are my top tips:

For the applique, I cut the centers out of the body parts of the crab but left the rest of the pieces intact.

Make sure to follow the instructions on which pieces go above and behind other pieces.  I always test my layout prior to ironing.  Once ironed, the pieces are hard to move!

I used monofilament for my thread this time to stay consistent with the other blocks in the QAL, and it helped me not need to change thread multiple times.  Once you are done with the blanket stitch, zig zag stitch, etc, trim your block to size.  Blocks tend to shrink with applique stitching.
