Simply Flying Quilt Pattern!

Here's the first quilt in my 2021 Simply series. Introducing Simply Flying! I made this quilt top center (minus the border) in just under 4 hours this past Saturday! I used 9 different fat quarters and just over a yard of black fabric for the center of the quilt. The border was also just over a yard of black fabric.

This quilt could be made with a layer cake instead of the 9 fat quarters that I used. I'm pretty excited about using my fat quarter stash this year. I think the black and white of this quilt gives a super modern look! I added the border to make the quilt more lap sized versus a baby quilt. It would have been just as easy to make more blocks and make the quilt larger, but I didn't have enough fat quarters to make that work. I also flipped the contrast of the quilt from when I designed it and I love how it turned out!

Fabric: You + Me batiks, white with black for the background and solid black batik fabric
Thread: 2024 Aurifil 50wt for piecing and 2692 Aurifil 50wt for border and binding, 411 So Fine 50wt for longarming
Batting: Warm and Plush by Warm Co
Finished Size: 60"x60" (with border, 48" square without border)
Quilting design: Triangle Lacing, quilted by me! I can quilt your quilts, too!
