Rudeneja Handbag!
I think I fell in love this weekend with the Rudenja Handbag pattern. I made this bag on Saturday on my Twitch channel from start to finish! Overall it took me just under 6 hours to complete. This is one of my favorite bag finishes of all time. Isn't it just stunning?
I am so impressed with how easily the bag came together with the vinyl exterior. You can't tell in the photos as much but the geometric shapes on the vinyl reflect the light differently and it's just beautiful! I added some cute little bag feet to the bottom of the bag in addition to the "Handmade" label on the front.
The interior of the bag has a slip pocket on one side and an interior zipper pocket on the other side. The top is held together by a recessed zipper. This was the first time that I used the zipper overlay on the interior pocket and I really thought the construction was super clever!
Now, what did I think of the pattern?
- The pattern comes with videos, but I didn't watch them since the pattern itself was written really well! This is the first and only pattern I've done so far by Lavender & Twine, and I'm completely sold. It was an excellent pattern. I can't say that enough!
- There are some really clever techniques that I hadn't tried before, but I found super helpful while constructing the bag.
- The interfacing for the exterior called for Decovil Light and I opted not to use it. I actually regret this as the vinyl is pretty soft so the handbag is more slouchy than I would have liked.
- I used the birthing method for turning this bag, but she gives instructions for dropping in the lining and topstitching everything together. I will try this method with double-sided tape in the future.
- Overall, a great design and great pattern. I will definitely make this bag again.

That is seriously impressive, Sherry! I’m not sure I’d attempt something like that. I do like to make bags though. My favorite bags? The grocery totes I make. I use them all the time.
