North Stars Polar Bear Block
I understand the appeal of a block of the month program especially if the blocks are super complicated! This past Saturday I decided to make my second block in the North Stars Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman!
I finally got the espresso fabric and was able to finish up the Reggie Reindeer block that I had started last month! He is super cute, but the small piecing was definitely an accuracy challenge! Make sure to check your seams often!
I decided to make Patty Polar Bear this month and she turned out just as adorable! The block took me just under 4 hours to make and I think she was easier than Reggie!
I have decided that on the 4th Saturday of the month I'll continue making these blocks! So I should be done with blocks by October which then gives me November to put the entire top together just in time for winter! The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of for this quilt is the use of Homespun Essex. I think it's because the weave is looser than quilting cotton and therefore more stretchy/wonky.
Have you used Homespun Essex before, what are your thoughts?

I starch most of my fabric before cutting, but I found I had to starch the heck out of the Essex fabric, and used a couple back stitches on these blocks.
Such cute blocks!!!!! I especially love the polar bear. Her blocks are complicated but usually worth the time.
