Moonwake Madness

Have you ever had a pattern that you disliked in the beginning but grew on you?  That's what happened with the Moonwake Handbag by Lavender & Twine.  When I first saw the bag, I wasn't the biggest fan and I thought it used a ton of hardware for not much purpose.  But I saw so many different versions and my sister LOVES the pattern, so I made her a bag...Then I made myself a bag...Then this past Saturday I made my third one on my Twitch channel from start to finish!  Overall it took me just under 6 hours to complete without the crossbody strap.  I somehow only had one swivel hook in gunmetal when I needed two of them.

There is a lot of hardware on this bag, but it's so fun!  It wasn't until after the stream that I noticed I forgot to put purse feet on the bag!  Thankfully I hadn't sewn the bottom of the lining together and I was able to very carefully install purse feet!

The interior of the bag has a slip pocket on one side and an interior zipper pocket on the other side.  The top is held together by two magnetic snaps.

In case you were wondering, here are all 3 bags together.  Don't they look splendid?!

Now, what did I think of the pattern?

  • The pattern comes with videos, but I didn't watch them since the pattern itself was written really well! This is the third pattern I've done so far by Lavender & Twine, and I'm completely sold. It was an excellent pattern.  I can't say that enough!
  • I love the use of Decovil Light and the intentional slouchiness of the bag down the middle.
  • Overall, a great design and great pattern.  I will definitely make this bag again, maybe in all the colors!
