Simply Modern Quilt Pattern (and more!)
Somehow I completely forgot to talk about Simply Modern, November's Simply quilt. I noticed that on Friday when I was posting about Simply Love which was sewn this weekend. Even crazier, I completely forgot to post about the completed Cargo Duffle after I posted the first part! You can read about that here. I blame the fact that I've been mentally fatigued with the move, the blog tour, and work. So let's officially introduce Simply Modern!
This quilt was made the last Saturday I was in Albuquerque with 8 different fat quarters! I really love the simplicity of this pattern and the fun designs that half square triangles can create! We made the quilt top within the 4-6 hour timeframe that I aim for each Simply quilt, but I can't remember exactly how long it took me!
Quilt Facts:
- Pattern: Simply Modern by me!
- Fabric: Various fabrics and Island Batik white
- Thread: 2024 Aurifil 50wt for piecing and binding, 401 So Fine 50wt for longarming
- Batting: Warm and Plush by Warm Co
- Finished Size: 60"x60"
- Quilting design: Diagonal Plaid, quilted by me! I can quilt your quilts, too!
I also finished the Cargo Duffle 2 weeks ago! It turned out decently well. My straight line quilting wasn't the best, but you can't really tell any of the bobbles.
The duffle is not large, but it is big enough for a weekender bag for one person. I don't think it'll be big enough to hold both my husband's and my clothes for the weekend. The interior is bound with binding to hide the raw edges. I did the binding as I would have with a quilt. Machine-stitching on one side, then hand sewing it down on the other side. I feel that it makes for a prettier finish.
Bag Details:
- Pattern: Cargo Duffle by Noodlehead (it's free!)
- Fabric: Geo Pop by Emmie K for Robert Kaufman (it was a kit from Craftsy circa 2016)
- Thread: 2024 Aurifil forty3wt for piecing and machine quilting
- Batting: Warm and Plush by Warm Co
Are you still working on some last-minute holiday gifts? I've been influenced by another quilter making soap for friends on Instagram. I purchased a soap-making kit for myself to try in 2022!
