Passion Flower Tote (Friday Foto Fun #266)
Last weekend, I decided to do an extra bag day on stream and I started a Passion Flower Tote by Blue Calla Patterns. I didn't finish the entire bag on stream since the bag took about 6-7 hours to complete. I absolutely LOVE how this bag turned out.
I used all vinyl for the exterior and water-resistant canvas for the interior. The pattern called for foam and fleece interfacing, but I wanted the tote to be a bit more sturdy, so I used Decovil Light for the exterior interfacing. Because of this, I had to sew the bag together with a drop-in lining since birthing the bag with the all Decovil light interfacing was going to be extremely difficult. I actually had trouble just turning the exterior right side out when I had finished sewing it together.
The interior has a zipper pocket and a slip pocket that runs all the way across the top. I modified the slip pocket but forgot to adjust the location so it sits just slightly higher than intended and the recessed zipper somewhat interferes. However, I don't think it'll be too bad once there are items in the pockets.
Overall, I really adore the pattern and have already started cutting out vinyl for my next few Passion Flower Totes. I did do quite a few modifications to the pattern. In addition to those I've already mentioned, I added a zipper facing on the interior and the slip pocket accent, used 2 different colors for the strap colors, and I changed how the shoulder bag handles were sewn together.
Bag Details:
- Pattern: Passion Flower Tote by Blue Calla Patterns
- Vinyl and Water Resistant Canvas: Purple Dragon Fabrics
- Hardware: all over honestly - all in antique bronze
Tomorrow will be the "official" bag day for February and I plan on making an H2O 2Go Sling by Linds Handmade, but I think I'm going to try one of the "hacks" to make the a bit easier. As usual, I'll start at 9am central on my Twitch channel, come hang out, chat, and sew!

That is a beautiful bag! I’m so inept at sewing things like this, I will never make one, but I so admire all the wonderful things you make and that you share tutorials so others (who aren’t me!) can give it a try. Thanks for your generosity! I’ll stick to the simply series. LOL
What a beautiful bag. I’m not besties with zippers so not many get done in my work. 🙂 Thanks for the linky op. Blessings!
