Happy Friday! Last weekend, I did a live stream on Facebook using the AccuQuilt Cutter for the first time. AccuQuilt is one of the industry sponsors for the Island Batik Ambassador program this year, and they sent each of the ambassadors a Ready, Set, GO! kit. Our April challenge is to make a baby quilt utilizing the AccuQuilt cutter. I had never used a die...
My best friend while quilting is my Oliso Iron, so when I was contacted to write a review for the iron I was ecstatic! I was given a brand new Oliso TG1600 Yellow Iron in exchange for my honest opinion about the iron. The pink one in the photo below is my own personal Oliso. The TG1600 comes in both pink and yellow. Some of...
It’s almost April and I’m squeaking in a close to last minute finish for my March Island Batik Ambassador Challenge! This month we were tasked to create a quilt that was inspired by vintage quilts! The fabrics showcased in this post were given to me by Island Batik as a part of their ambassador program. I used the Ohio Star as the basis of my...
I finished my project!!! I was this week’s Project Quilt Sew-lebrity! I can’t wait to see your finished projects, too! This week’s prompt was “Craving Chocolate”, read about it here. It’s like Trish KNEW I loathe brown, so I struggled a bit to figure out what I wanted to make! I had seriously considered making a poop emoji, but thought I should make something MUCH...
When I sat down to figure out what I wanted to share on this Friday, I figured I’d do more of a personal post this week. It’s been a long time since I’ve offered true insights into myself and my aspirations, so here it goes… I’m Sherry and I’m the brain-child of Powered By Quilting. The name comes from the ties I have with my...
Happy Friday! I am trying something different today with a video blog! I was trying to edit my Facebook Live post from Wednesday to make the tutorial for making a design board, but my audio and video was not syncing up. I decided to re-tape the instructions on how to make your own design boards. Enjoy!
This year’s QuiltCon was held in Nashville, TN this past Thursday to Sunday. I traveled out there Wednesday morning and got home late Sunday night! I was also a Super Volunteer meaning I did over 16 hours of volunteering at the event! I look forward to going to Austin in 2020 and Atlanta in 2021. Here are some of the highlights:
Happy Friday! BeaQuilter has been hosting the Dust Off a Quilt Book blog hop all week and today is my turn to share! The concept is to take one of the many quilt books that we all have and dust it off. Make a project from the book! The book that I chose was the 180 Doodle Quilting Designs! I have so many free motion...
The 2019 Island Batik Ambassador program officially kicked off earlier this month! We got our boxes a little earlier this year and I had to tape my unboxing video rather than wait for a live reveal because I was just TOO excited to see what was in our boxes! I posted the video to my Facebook page earlier this month, but in case you missed...
Today is the last day of the Turnabout Patchwork blog hop! I can finally share my project with you, Holiday Trellis! Turnabout Patchwork is a brand new book by Teresa Mairal Barreu of Sewn Up Patterns. The book is all about sewing together blocks, cutting them up and making new blocks for endless quilt possibilities! I picked out a layer cake of Winter Wonderland that I’ve...
