#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week10, Exercises 64-70

Happy Spring Forward day for those of us in the US that observe Daylight Savings Time!  Week 10 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge here.

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#64 Continue to add flowers to the meadow.  I tried something different with this one, since I had a little bit of experience with a previous exercise that was very similar.  I drew all the stems first, then I filled in the flowers on top!  This somehow made me much happier actually doing this exercise rather than drawing each individual flower one at a time.

#65 Calligraphy practice. We are practicing "U"s this time and connecting them together.  This was pretty fun, and I think I got the hang of it by the end of the page!

#66 Fill the squares with different marks. This is also a repeat of an exercise from before, but I took this opportunity to do themes.  The first column was patterns with straight lines, then it was with "C"s, then circles, and finally loops!  It was more like intentional doodling with the help of prompts.

#67 Complete the pattern. I learned from the last complete the pattern and made the grid first!  YAY!  But I didn't keep the same scale for the squares, so as I went along my blue squares got smaller and smaller.  That made it increasingly difficult to draw the center dots.

#68 Using a black fineliner, draw your hand. I suggest you draw the hand that is drawing.  Tip: This is difficult, but worth practicing. Look carefully and draw what you see, not what you expect to see. Oh. Em. Gee.  This was SO incredibly hard!  The tip to draw what you see rather than what you expect to see was very difficult!  I never realized how much I draw from memory rather than an actual object in front of me!  Maybe I should do some of those drawings of a bowl of fruit to get myself to actually look at the object!  I also drew my hand really really small compared to the page!

#69 Continue creating your own patterns. Select cool, calming colors.  My favorite exercise of the week! I love cool colors, and I continued with blue on this entire page.  It was fun to make repeating patterns in a row.  I realize we did an exercise similar to this in warm colors earlier but for some reason doing this exercise in blue was infinitely easier!  I'm not sure if I've gotten better at designs and creativity or if there is something with cool colors that I like more!

#70 Experiment with different art materials to discover what you like using.  Use color pencils to create different marks. I really like color pencils but this is the first time that I tried doing different types of shading and rotations for the color pencils like marking with the very side of the colored pencil.  I also realized I dislike brown, it looked like poop smeared on my paper.

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
