#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 7, Exercises 43-49

Week 7 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!  If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge here.

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

 

#43 Conversations can  be the start of stories and ideas.  Write down an interesting conversation.  This was by far the hardest one of the week! I feel like I live a fairly boring, but quilting filled life.  Besides what do you want for dinner? I really couldn't think of one. 

#44 Color in the plants.  This is my favorite for the week!  I loved being able to play with colored pencils and shade the different parts of the plant.  I am actually not really sure what type of plant this is to begin with, so that didn't hinder my color choices.

#45 What activities make you feel relaxed?  Write or draw here.  In my past life, I used to do a lot more letter drawing.  However, I think it's different from what is considered hand lettering today.

#46 Create a collage then add details to contrast the block shapes.   Quick, scroll past this one!  I thought the flowers were going to be much better than what I ended up with.  I even tried adding brush marker on the red ones to see if I could improve the outcome... but I made it worse!  Note to self:  The last collage you skipped... maybe you should remember that is an option!

#47 Fill the page with colored lines. These exercises seem really basic, but it really lets me think about which colors I want to put next to each other, how thick the lines are going to be, and are the colors being added in a balancing manner.  The hardest part was actually creating the thicker lines.  I'm not sure why but I tended to default to a standard line width.  Who knew?

#48 Calligraphy Practice! O O O O O Os I think I started to get the hang of it, but then I ran out of space so I added an extra O to the last line.   I found a few hand lettering rockstars on the internet, one of the ones that I really like is Veronica at Two Easels.  She is hosting a 2018 Watercolor Brush Lettering Challenge. If only I had more time!

#49 Add your own colorful flowers to the vines. I realized that with the flowers being so tiny, the color is really what stands out.  Not the detail of the tiny flowers.  Your brain actually just assumes splotches of colors are flowers... especially since I just told you they were. Did you notice the color was just splotches before I said something?  Probably not.  I think this works similar to how mistakes in quilting are not often caught by the general viewer.  If it was a show quilt, people are looking much more closely.

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
