#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week15, Exercises 99-105
Who would have thought Week 15 of 2018 would be a historic blizzard in Minnesota?! So much snow the last 24 hours... it definitely feels like February rather than April. Week 15 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! Can you believe we are over 100 exercises in!? If you haven't started yet, no worries! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge here.
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#99 Draw the face of someone you have seen today. Sorry, I've mentioned this before, but I do not draw faces any different than I did in grade school. I really dislike faces, and I've gotten to the point where I just know I won't do faces in my artistic career, so this is what I got.
#100 Color in. Hello watercolor! I saw this exercise first and I thought, "Oh no, look at all the detail to color in!" I dislike those adult coloring books that have this much detail to color in. My fix... watercolor! With watercolor, you can do different intensities of color with one watercolor to give a gradient in the object or in this case flowers! The uncolored lines are what actually define the objects, not the splotches of watercolor.
#101 Draw some mugs you have in your house. I misread this to saw draw "A" mug you have, so I drew my large soup mug. It's not the most complicated mug, but it's definitely handy!
#102 Draw a tree from your imagination. This one is definitely imagining the greenery on the trees! I've actually enjoyed drawing trees my whole life. The tree trunk is surrounded above by a cloud of green. In this case, you'll need to imagine the colors since I just sketched in pencil.
#103 Using pencils, color each circle a different shade to blend in the middle. This was pretty fun to see how my color pencils blend. However the photograph of the page makes the yellow/red and the darker yellow/red-orange look the same. You'll have to trust me that I didn't do the same pencils twice!
#104 Draw everything you have in your pencil case. My pencil case included my TomBoy pen for lettering, a Paper Mate pencil, a Staedtler eraser, and a small 6.5" straight edge. These were easier to draw than I originally imagined.
#105 Turn these splotches into animals. Ack! Flashback to Exercise #2! However, these splotches are all darker neutral tones. I tried adding more than just eyes and a tail to the splotches... do you see my snake?! It kind of looks like a snail with a weird tongue. Note: This is almost the opposite of exercise 100, but I'm much worse at drawing animals!
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!

I’m still working on mine, and really need post some of my pages (sorry)! I enjoy the coloring pages, so I’m working on that particular page as I watch shows at night. I hope you don’t have to travel any time soon. I’m tucked in and cozy today.
I love seeing your daily exercises. I have never been skilled in drawing but I can see how this practice would push you to improve!!! I also love the blending color exercise. I have been increasingly interested in using transparency in my quilts and this seems like it would be a great way to practice and think about some options!
Another great week of exercises! Your splotches to animals look amazing, the animals are full of personality! I’m curious what they looked like before, were they really just splotches of color, and you could have drawn anything?
