April Color Challenge Revisited
April is almost over which means you only have a few days to get your blocks in for prizes!!! I am reminding you that the April Color Challenge link up is OPEN!!! YAY!!! This is my 3rd orange block using Jen for Dizzy Quilter's Circle Play block this week! Like previous months, I used my quarter circle templates to make my paper piecing templates to make this wonderful block! Check out my January post that walks through the process for the circle. This month the idea was to have triangles in each of the wedges of the quarter circle. I got all of my orange scraps out to make my blocks in a pile (ignore the piece of yellow that I pulled out after the photo was taken).
The order that you should sew each quadrant for the seams to nest should be starting from one side of the quadrant to the other. All 4 should be made the same way. I drew little arrows on my papers to confirm my seams went in opposite directions.
I didn't do much planning on each of the quadrants, I just started sewing. If you need some paper piecing help, check out my tutorial. Remember to always use your templates to trim the pieces! For straight edges, measure your ¼" from the seam line instead of the drawn line.
Remember how I just threw colors together? I probably should have planned it out more. I couldn't get my quadrants in a way that the same print didn't touch unless I made the outer circles half and half.
I then added the background pieces to get my orange block completed! YAY!
So for this year, I already have 12 blocks!
