Fall Into A QAL Block 11!
Today's the day Block 11 is released! Abbie of Sparkle On designed this Autumn Harvest Barn block!
My block is made of all Moda Grunge fabrics. My barn is actually two different shades of Red to get the 3D effect!
Here are my top tips!
- Cut the barn door larger and stitch the "X". Then cut the barn door down to size. I had issues with my fabric fraying starting directly in the corner!
- Notice that the pinwheels are not identical! Be very careful with the placement of the colors.
- Have fun! The instructions are great!
Good luck on your block! I can't wait to see it!
Don't forget to submit your completed block on Abbie's linky party, Facebook Group Page, and/or on Instagram with #FallIntoAQAL to also be entered into this week's prizes! One lucky person will win 4 half-yard cuts of assorted Craftsy Boundless Solids and a free PDF table runner pattern “Christmas Tree Farm” by April Adams of JANDA Bend Quilts.
The prize entry window starting from 12AM Eastern on October 2, 2018, until 11:59PM Eastern on October 15, 2018.
As a reminder, I have a quick links page to catch up on the blocks in this QAL and my associated blog posts. You can also get to that page by clicking the Fall Into A QAL button on the right sidebar.
The sponsors for the grand prize have also been announced. In order to be eligible for the grand prize, you must make a quilt top using all twelve of the QAL blocks by November 13th, 2018. Please note that all patterns are only free until the end of the QAL.
Happy Sewing! I can't wait to see your blocks!

Once again, grunge makes a fabulous block for you! I didn’t even notice the pinwheel differences until you said something. I think they look great that way. Thanks for the tip on stitching the door.
Love the way the different shades of red add shading to the barn!
Those Grunge fabrics are looking fabulous in this block! Great tips!
Hi Sherry, I love your grunge barn! Thanks for the awesome tips. ~Abbie 😊
