#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 43, Exercises 295-301

Week 43 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!  Less than 10 weeks left in 2018, can you believe it?  I passed the 300 exercise mark this week.  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#295 For this drawing, choose another object or scene and use a continuous pencil line for each separate color that you see.  Only take the pencil off the page when you must.  This technique can lead to some interesting results.  Try your own on the next page.  I decided to draw my purple fake plant again.  It was rather boring so I thought using a continuous line is like quilting!  So I decided to add some free motion practice on the top of the page.

#296 Fill the wheel with color using watercolors.  Consider which colors may look appealing next to each other.  I decided to paint a rainbow wheel!  I did a lot of the warm colors before I realized that I was running out of slices, so I had to make some larger jumps in color for the cool colors.

#297 Today, create a drawing which shows perspective.  Using the grey lines as a guide, draw a row of trees.  Your trees don't need to fit into the lines exactly, but the lines can be used to show roughly how big objects of similar height may appear.  Perhaps add extra plants and people once you've finished.  The trees on the left were printed in the book and I added the trees on the right.  After the trees were added, I thought that the walkway would look great with some benches!  The grey lines were really helpful for drawing perspective!

#298 Explore mark making using charcoal and an eraser.  Start by turning a charcoal stick on its side and rubbing it over the paper.  Then use erasers to remove material and create white marks.  See what effects you can create in the space below.  I don't actually have charcoal so I used a black colored pencil and I attempted to erase spots in the black penciled area.  It kind of worked.  Can you see what I tried to erase?

#299 Create an abstract garden.  You could use cut-out pieces of paper or any other material.  Start by drawing plants, and keep adding layers.  You could add vegetables, animals, and birds.  I didn't really follow the instructions, but I did start with drawing the tree then adding apples and birds.  I don't tend to have any paper that I can cut out and layer with, so colored pencils it was!

#300 What are people looking at?  Draw it.  I didn't like the tiny drawing this involved!  But I tried to think of fun things people would be looking at... a large vase, a big tiger/cat, some flowers, and a huge elephant!

#301 Draw a dense, tropical forest with palm trees and exotic flowers.  I used color pencils for this exercise.  I started with the palm trees, but I couldn't figure out how to draw exotic flowers.  I decided to just make splotches of colors on the ground to represent the exotic flowers.

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
