Guess what?! I'm one of next year's Guest Designers for the International Association of Quilters! How cool!
The International Association of Quilters is an international community of people who love quilting! There is a mystery block of the month that each of the guest designers designs a block for and a pdf pattern/project that will be released each month! I'm really excited to design a project for this great group!
This past week was spent getting caught up with some of my sewing bees. One of the blocks this month, the Magic 8 Ball Block was brand new to me (no one picked it yet this year), and it was Halloween fabric-themed.
The second block was the Houndstooth block. This is a quick and easy paper-pieced block. If you haven't paper pieced before, this is a great block to start with. Check out my paper piecing tutorial here.
In other news, I am anxiously waiting for a package from my longarmer that contains 2 more quilts, one of which is a brand new pattern getting released later this month, and the other is my finished Monthly Color Challenge quilt. The final block in the Monthly Color Challenge gets released tomorrow! I have lots of binding to do this month since another package of 3 quilts is currently on the way to the longarmer!
I need your help. I have 23-ish people in my department and I was thinking about making a fabric ornament for each of them as a present this holiday season. I have realized that is an unrealistic goal to finish by the end of the year, so what other gifts should I make them? What's fun, quick and cute... and man-friendly? Most of my team are men and I want the gift to be something they will appreciate. I saw Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl make these adorable 5-minute hexie coasters with a tutorial by Sharla from Thistle Thicket Studio. I think it's weird to give someone a SINGLE coaster, but if I made 2 per person, is that weird? What do you think?
Don't forget to join in on the Hidden Stars SAL starting January 8th! Read about that here.
