Week 51 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! Second to last Sunday of the year! Merry Christmas a few days early! I can't believe there are only 8 more exercises left in the entire book! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#351 Colored paper can be used as a mid-tone for a drawing. Use pastels or colored pencils and explore using bright colors to add highlights and shadow to your drawings. The banana was printed in the book and I drew the ornament. It is one of the ornaments that I have made and drew it on the page. I think it looks pretty good!
#352 Today, create a line drawing of a simple scene. Arrange a few objects in front of you, and draw the outlines. Sometimes it's helpful to close one eye as you look at the scene. Concentrate on the distance and angles between the objects. Well this wasn't necessarily "simple" but it is the Christmas tree and presents at our friend's house. I actually think this sketch while not really following the directions turned out pretty well. I am definitely in the Christmas spirit!
#353 Practice drawing the features of a face on the opposite page. Draw the eyes about halfway down the face, and the bottom of the nose on the nose line. Perhaps find a photo of a face to study. I think the guidelines on the face are SUPER helpful. The only thing I would change is the hair and how it should follow the top of a person's head.
#354 Draw your feet. This was an interesting exercise as I was using a fineliner pen and couldn't shade very well. However, I think that is the best drawing that I have ever done of feet. #soproud
#355 Write a stream of consciousness. Just write what comes into your mind. There's no need to read it back. I'm not really sure what the point of this exercise was... just seems odd?
#356 Decorate the circles with patterns. This was fun to decorate and just doodle. I keep saying that I need to do more doodling to help with my free motion quilting. This is a reminder to my future self that I need to get going on practicing!
#357 Today, create a drawing which shows perspective. This was a fun exercise. I remember doing these exercises in junior high art classes and it was always fun. I ran out of time to color it in due to the holidays. I hope everyone is prepared for Christmas!
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
